The project is in its deep drilling exploration phase after detailed surface studies between 2018-2020 showed up to 200 MW worth of steam within a 10 km square area of the concession area. The entire concession area measures some 135 square kilometer area. We will deliver the project in four phases with the first unit of 35 MW to be ready by 2026. Our deep surface studies point to an excellent geothermal resource at an exploitable depth of 1500m-2200m.
We own and operate a 500 acre mine in the Elementaita area with huge deposits of hard, durable and tough rock materials with excellent construction qualities. Volcanic agglomerates are widely prevalent from which we are making sand as a substitute for common river sand. The manufactured product is called m-sand. It has great ecological benefits in sparing riverine ecosystems from sand mining which destroys riparian vegetation and affects the flow of water along rivers. Our m sand has silica which helps achieve good bonding with cement during construction
Linked to the geothermal energy project is a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) and an Export Processing Zone (EPZ) under development by the company in the same area of Elementaita. The industrial zone is located just 3km the Nairobi-Nakuru highway at Kikopey. 175 km of this key artery known as the Northern Corridor is set for upgrading into a six-lane highway.

Railway Connectivity to the Industrial Park: Design for construction of a railway siding from the Gilgil Railway Station to serve the SEZ and EPZ is ongoing. It will give the industrial park a competitive logistics advantage by providing a direct link from the current inland port at Mai Mahiu (and by extension Mombasa)

Benefits of having a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) include:

Corporate Tax. 10% for the first 10 years after the start of operations, 15% for the next 10 years and 30% for the subsequent years.
